HTC HD3: No Dual-Core Processor

Sorry HTC fans, the mythical HD3 will not be as awesome as the initial rumors pegged it to be. This super-charged WP7 device was believed to pack a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor, the first of a new family of high-end smartphone chips. Unfortunately, news from Qualcomm proves that cannot possibly be the case.

We reported yesterday that the 1.5 GHz chip will not be ready until near the end of 2011. In that case, they certainly will not be ready by the September 15th launch event or the rumored October release. Qualcomm's 1.2 GHz chip isn't due out until the first of next year, which means the HD3's processor is likely to be a 1 GHz Snapdragon. Ho-hum.
