Typically is you want a flash drive that is rugged you are looking at a bulky storage device that is enclosed in aluminum or some other strong enclosure to protect the sensitive components inside. Silicon Power has unveiled a new flash drive that is rugged and uses a green silicone gel material in its construction.
The drive is called the Unique 530 and the "green" gel is soft an pliable sort of like rubber. The hardware part of the 16GB flash drive is a chip on board package that is encased in the silicone gel. The gel makes the drive shock proof, waterproof, and vibration proof.
The accessories are encased in the gel as well making the keychain ring able to withstand up to 10kg of pull force without breaking. That means you can put the thing on your keychain and it will last longer. Pricing and availability are unannounced at this time.
