Rumor Claims iPhone 5 and iPad 2 May Get MagSafe Power

One of the coolest features of the MacBook to a non-Mac fan is the MagSafe power adapter. I have pulled notebooks off a desk before when I got the power cable tangled in my chair and the MagSafe cable prevents this.

A new rumor is circulating that claims the next iPhone and iPads from Apple may adopt the MagSafe power ports. That would be a nice feature, but I would assume that would kill connectivity with all existing accessories like speaker docks.

We can only assume that Apple has some sort of way to let the MagSafe sync content as well since charging and sync are in one cable right now. The rumor comes from a patent filed by Apple that turned up on the USPTO website.
