Coffee drinkers will stand in line for a long time to get their favorite cup of java. Starbucks is where many coffee fans like to go and the company has announced that it has expended its mobile payment test areas to include a couple of the most populated areas around.
The test now covers New York City and Long Island. Users of the iPhone, iPod touch, and Blackberry smartphones can get the app and use it to pay for their drinks. The app is on the App Store for Apple devices and can be downloaded for Blackberry users by texting GO to 70845.
Once the app is installed, the user can put money on it using a credit card. When they go to get a coffee, the app makes a barcode that is scanned at the register and the money is deducted for the balance on the app to pay.
