It is 1am PDT Halloween Sunday. Our tracker just alerted us that the Apple Store is down for updating world-wide. What is Apple doing in the early hours of Halloween in the Apple Store? It turned out that nothing changed as the store went back online after a couple minutes.
But this raised the question in my mind: Is Apple already done with new product announcement for the Holiday shopping season? Over a week ago Apple launched the hot new MacBook Air as the latest new Apple offering. The next big thing we know about is the release of iOS 4.2 for the iPad and the iPhone in November. Besides this software release, there are new product release rumors, besides the unlikely new iPad 2G. A Verizon iPhone is also not seen to be released in 2010. All rumors point to a Spring 2011 release for the Verizon iPhone.
Apple has updated the iPod line a couple months ago and recently released the new Apple TV. The iMac and the Mac Pro also got upgrades in Summer. The only thing that looks "old" after the introduction of the MacBook Air is the MacBook. As the performance of the new MacBook Air takes on MacBook Pro laptops, the MacBook is only making points with its larger hard-drive storage. This is not much compared to the overwhelming sexiness of the new MacBook Air. Apple needs to at least cut the price of the MacBook for the Holidays to make it attractive again. How does a $699 MacBook sound?
If you have a guess or idea on what Apple still might unveil for these Holidays please post in the comments below.
