The Palm Pre 2 is a rare (and exciting) example of the tech industry giving a second chance. webOSRoundUp reports that Tim Pettitt, Senior HP Product Manager, has confirmed that the Pre 2 will be sold directly by HP. No contract or carrier will be necessary.
In addition, the Pre 2's display will be covered by Gorilla Glass. The keyboard has been improved to increase tactile satisfaction, and the camera has apparently been tweaked quite a bit. The 5 MP shooter should be able to handle 1 photo / second. Will a tough screen, better body and bold direct-sale strategy be enough to bring webOS back from the brink? We'll see.
