Sprint Clearwire is offering new 4G service in New York city. Sprint already unveiled this plan mid-October and now 4G is here in the big Apple. Samsung announced today that they are providing the base station technology for the 4G WiMAX service in New York.
amsung provided its latest 4G base stations, which adopted a common platform capable of supporting Mobile WiMAX (802.16e), WiMAX 2 (802.16m), as well as both FDD-LTE and TD-LTE. Considering New York City’s unique and vast urban architecture, Samsung also supplied macro base stations and pico base stations to provide quality of service and seamless mobile broadband coverage.
Sprint is offering right now two 4G handsets with the Samsung Epic 4G and the HTC Evo 4G.
Clearwire currently provides 4G service in 62 markets across the United States where approximately 82 million people live and the company plans to continue to expand its 4G coverage.
