With state-of-the-art 3D visuals and a fan backing that would make any franchise jealous, the Tron: Evolution video game is going to be one of the hottest items not only for the holiday season but of the entire year. Take a look at the Collector's Edition, and there's even more to salivate about.
The Collector's Edition will include a special "light cycle" replica, giving gamers a chance to own one of the best video game-related collectibles ever.
The light cycle looks really cool in this shopped-up promotional shot, and although it appears to glow in the dark it may just be really, really glossy. For $130, a $70 hike over the cost of the standalone game, you'd expect this thing to be really high quality. And it is. It's made by Sideshow Collectibles, a company that specializes in high-end movie figurines.
Also included with the Tron Evolution Collector's Edition is a dome-shaped display case to house the awesome light cycle. The base of the display stand also pulls out for a spot to house the game as well.
The video game is of course based on the upcoming movie Tron Legacy, which will come out just a few days later.
Having a movie-based game get this much hype is extremely rare. But of course, Tron is a movie about the world of video games. So it's catering to that crowd, and needs to deliver in a big way.
Tron Legacy is gunning to have the most amazing 3D movie technology ever, and even looks to dethrone last year's 3D mammoth hit, Avatar. It will surely be the runaway winner of the December box office.
Tron Evolution similarly will be one of the most stunning 3D console games to date. Rendered in full, stereoscopic 3D, it'll be a must-have not only for Tron fans but for early 3D adopters as well.
The standard version of Tron Evolution will be available for $60 on the Xbox 360 and PS3, or $130 for the Collector's Edition.
