Toy maker Hasbro is poised to enter the Apple iPhone accessory market with a big splash in Spring of 2011. Hasbro has developed a gadget to view 3D content on the iPhone. The Hasbro My3D looks like a binocular that attaches to the iPhone and iPod touch. The optical attachment lets users view content like videos and games in 3D. There will be specially produced content and games for the Hasbro My3D.

It looks like Hasbro is taking a lot of effort to establish 3D on the iPhone making deals left and right with 3D content providers to offer a rich 3D content portfolio when the My3D launches for $30 in Spring of 2011.

I am very skeptical though if this takes on. The Hasbro my3D is bulky and it will not make you look cool holding it to your face. The future of 3D phones has already arrived in Japan with auto-stereo 3D displays that do not require to wear glasses. Spring 2011 also sees the release fo the Nintendo 3DS with the same 3D screen. The only way to go for Apple to stay minimalist and cool is to adopt 3D displays and not have latch toys onto our iPhones.
