Vizio Puts a Beat Down on TV Competitors in North America

It's very impressive how Vizio managed to go from a relatively unknown company to the largest firm in the US market in only a few years taking the top spot in sales from the industry heavyweights like Samsung, Sony, and others. The company was able to do that with a mix of excellent prices, good availability, and nice features.

Vizio has continued to storm the TV market in North America with huge growth in the market while other firms are seeing their sales decline. The latest numbers for the TV market are in from CEA MarketMetrics Data and things are looking very good for Vizio. The company has again held onto its top spot in shipments for North American and the US.

Vizio has grabbed 30% of the LED backlit TV market in North America according to the numbers and shipped 176,000 more sets in Q3 than its next closest competitor. The company had the most growth in the industry with 15% quarter over quarter and 30% compared to the same quarter of last year.

Vizio is also doing very well with other home theater gear like its SoundBars. Vizio SoundBars have 50% of the sound bar market. Vizio also saw sales of its Blu-ray players grow by 746% for the quarter. The numbers have Vizio shipping a total of 1.602 million TVs in Q3, up 15% from the 1.394 million TVs that Vizio shipped in Q2 2010.

"VIZIO rose to #1 in total LCD TV shipments in North America during Q3 2010 with a 16.8% market share. VIZIO accomplished this by posting a 30% year-over-year increase in shipments, outpacing an industry that was flat in Q3. In addition, VIZIO became the #1 brand on a shipment basis for LED backlit LCD TVs, a rapidly growing premium segment of the TV market, with almost 30% of the market,” stated Paul Gagnon, Director of North American TV Research at DisplaySearch.
