Western Digital unveiled its streaming media players a while ago and they have some really cool features that let fans of streaming media enjoy their digital content and content that is online. The company has announced today that it has added a bunch of new features to its digital media streaming devices including the WD TV Live Plus and the WD TV Live Media players.
Both of the devices can now connect to Facebook to keep up with your pals via social networking. The media players can access your Facebook News Feed right on your TV in the living room. Live Plus users can also now rent flicks the same day they hit DVD and Blu-ray using the Blockbuster On Demand feature.
Other new features for both units include access to Deezer personal music service, access to Flingo for network TV shows and more, Accuweather.com access is new, and support for a USB wireless keyboard. That last new feature is a big deal if you plan to use the Facebook capability much. You can also use the keyboard to do YouTube searches for video you want to watch and more.
"The WD TV family of media players lets our customers enjoy all of their personal media plus the best of the Internet on the biggest screen in the house," said Brian Miller, director of business development for WD. "We listen to our user community and integrate their feedback to continuously improve the experience with our products. That includes working with our content partners to curate the best set of Internet services to meet customers' needs."
