Microsoft announced on the heels of the stunning Wii Black Friday Sales numbers some record sales numbers for the Kinect Sensor. Microsoft says that strong demand for Kinect over the Black Friday weekend has pushed the Kinect Sensor sales to 2.5 million worldwide since its launch 25 days ago.
“We are thrilled about the consumer response to Kinect, and are working hard with our retail and manufacturing partners to expedite production and shipments of Kinect to restock shelves as fast as possible to keep up with demand,” said Don Mattrick, president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft. “With sales already exceeding two and a half million units in just 25 days, we are on pace to reach our forecast of 5 million units sold to consumers this holiday.”
The big question is how many new Xbox 360 consoles Microsoft can sell through Kinect. Nintendo was able to sell 600,000 Wii consoles during Black Friday week in the United States alone.
Kinect is definitely a hot Holiday video game item. It is getting already harder to find. Amazon and Walmart are regularly sold out.
