HomeAway Super Bowl 2011 Ad Campaign launches with Video of Ministry of Detourism

HomeAway just launched their social media campaign for their up coming Super Bowl Ad. As reported HomeAway plans to make a bigger splash than last year when their Super Bowl Ad debut featured the return of the National Lampoon's Vacation movie cast. Today the online vacation rental marketplace is giving a sneak peek of the HomeAway Super Bowl 2011 commercial incorporating current events.

This is how the story goes. HomeAway is secret government agency dubbed the Ministry of Detourism. Wiki-Peeks.org was about to leak this information.

“For too long, people have been unable to fully enjoy spending time with their friends and family while on vacation because they are forced to spend a lot of money only to be crammed together in a small hotel room,” says Brian Sharples, chief executive officer of HomeAway.  “To help save family vacations, we joined forces with a new government agency – the Ministry of Detourism.  Its sole purpose is to let travelers know they can leave behind cookie-cutter travel experiences like hotels for the space, privacy and freedom of vacation rentals.”

Watch the video below to learn more about the Ministry of Detourism. The HomeAway Campaigns key message is "Why Hotel when you can HomeAway." HomeAway will disclose additional details about this secret government agency when it launches a new, humorous campaign on Feb. 6, 2011 with a 30-second spot in the third quarter broadcast of Super Bowl XLV on the FOX television network.

The idea is funny, but I hope they pepper it with a celebrity appearance or some hilarious twist in the final Super Bowl ad.

Just like last year, I4U News will be featuring again the Super Bowl for Geeks Guide. Of course the Super Bowl 2011 for Geeks Guide will be all about the Super Bowl Commercials and not the big game. The Super Bowl XLV will take place in the Dallas Cowboys stadium on February 6th 2011.
