Iosafe's new Rugged Portable hard drive can literally take a shotgun blast. To prove it, they brought a (working) pellet-dented unit to Storage Visions. CEO Rob Moore took another unit on a brief drive...and left it hanging from the back of his bumper. Even road-hauling couldn't crack the mighty aluminum case.
Rugged Iosafe drives start at $149 and go all the way up to $1400, for a 512 GB SSD with a titanium case. All models are USB 3.0 compliant, and the standard HDDs go up to 2 TB. Also for a year, Iosafe will repair or replace any damaged models.
Again, no questions asked. It doesn't matter HOW you break your Iosafe. Not that you'll find it easy to break. I had the chance to try and crush the shotgun-scarred Rugged Portable in a heavy-duty vice. I couldn't even dent it. But the "rugged" Iomega drive? It cracked like an egg. Here's the video:
That warranty can be extended to 3 years for an extra $50, or to 5 years for an extra $100. For more info, check out their site.
