The Ford Explorer has been named North American Truck of the Year and the Chevy Volt grabbed Car of the Year honors. The winners were announced this week at the North American international Auto show. The winners were chosen by a jury of 49 automotive journalists.
The Volt landed the honor for cars with a total of 233 points followed by the Hyundai Sonata at 1238 points and the Nissan Leaf at 94 points. The Explorer out a beat down on the competition with 253 points, the second place Jeep racking up 138 points and the Dodge Durango with 99 points.
Mark Phelan, the auto critic of The Detroit Free Press said the Explorer offers “class-leading fuel economy and technology and features you can’t get in luxury crossovers that cost twice as much.” I saw the Explorer back when it was unveiled and it is a really cool SUV. It's the first Explorer I have ever actually wanted.
