Notion Ink has posted twice this week to update customers and the media on the further progress of the Adam. After a last mild delay courtesy of the FCC, the Adam has shipped out to the first cluster of owners.
And now Notion Ink has confirmed that the second and third phase of updates will start on time. The Adam will open up for pre-order again soon, and Mastercard users will be able to purchase this time. Pre-order access will go out first to those who commented on the Notion Ink blog early enough, and members of several fan-sites.
One batch of Adam touchscreens was damaged in transit, and the looming Chinese New Year have closed all of the manufacturing plans. Sinotek (NI's partner) is staying open to ship replacement Adam screens. So, if your tablet ends up with a half-attached display that reeks of rice wine, you know what to blame it on.
There's Honeycomb news too. Notion Ink has confirmed that they are working on the update, and trying to get the (apparently significant) support they need from Nvidia to make this happen.
The Adam has already been rooted and had Market access opened up. Some users have noticed issues with the new tablet, including a blotchy screen and a defective camera. There is also at least one account of users experiencing "delay tactics" with Notion Ink customer service.
