In January we reported that Groupon is planning a Super Bowl Pre-game ad Blitz. Groupon actually also wanted a Super Bowl ad spot, but was too late. Now AdAge reports that Groupon scored a last-minute Super Bowl 2011 ad spot and is now an official Super Bowl advertiser.
Groupon so far has not been active advertising on TV and just grew by word-of-mouth and online campaigns. Groupon made recent headlines when they declined a $6 billion takeover offer from Google.
There is no information yet about the Groupon Super Bowl commercial. I assume that the ad will explain what Groupon is to the Super Bowl audience to broaden even more its adoption. Groupon brings group buying and coupons together. Groupon users can save and businesses get tons of new customers.
Update:
Groupon published a teaser video for the Groupon Super Bowl commercial. The video is about a Groupon addict.
Just like last year, I4U News will be featuring again the Super Bowl for Geeks Guide. Of course the Super Bowl 2011 for Geeks Guide will be all about the Super Bowl Commercials and not the big game. Watch the first 2011 Super Bowl Ads now.
The Super Bowl XLV will take place in the Dallas Cowboys stadium on February 6th 2011.
