MapQuest has been around for a long time now and I have used the service for printed driving direction before. Printed driving directions are old school today with smartphones with GPS and PNDs being so common. What isn't so common is for a nice and full features GPS navigation app to be offered for free.
MapQuest has announced a new Android app that is on the Android market right now at no charge. The app has the ability to provide driving and walking directions with voice-guidance. The app also has voice search that allows the driver to speak their destination for guidance.
Other features include a map toolbar to find places for fuel and eating nearby and live traffic and accident information. That traffic info is updated every five minutes. The app works internationally and uses user sourced maps.
