When Verizon announced that they broke their launch day sales record in two hours during the pre-sale of the Verizon iPhone everyone expected crazy sales. BGR is putting some water on that with some store sales numbers they received from one of their Apple sources.

The total number of Verizon iPhone sold in five Apple Stores combined on the launch day are just 909. On the same day these Apple stores sold 539 iPhones for AT&T. The trend in the following days is that the Verizon iPhone sales match that of the AT&T iPhone sales.
According to BGR the total pre-order number of the Verizon iPhone is 550,000. Apparently these numbers are a bit less than what Verizon and Apple expected. Initially I thought that the run on the Verizon iPhone will be subdued as the new iPhone 5 is looming. So why lock yourself into a 2-yr contract if in 2-3 month you can have the latest generation iPhone for the same money.
The BGR report also features some survey numbers. Apparently 30% of people buying an Verizon iPhone have been Android users and 25% rolled with a BlackBerry. Only 14% have left AT&T. This is what we have reported before. The big loser is not AT&T, but Android.

I expect the Verizon iPhone 5 sales to go nutty. Stay tuned for this one.
