Can someone tell me if there is some sort of unwritten rule in the car industry that says EVs have to be ugly? This isn't always the truth, the Tesla Roadster for instance is dead sexy and there is the new Porsche Boxster EV prototypes that look hot too. Then you get stuff like this new iQ electric car from Toyota chocked full of ugly.
I guess the group that goes for EVs in Japan likes odd styling too. Begin beat up with the ugly stick aside, the iQ EV has an all electric driving range of 105 kilometers, which works out to 65 miles for those of us in the States. That won't get you far, but if all you do is commute a few miles each day this car might do the trick.
The car is expected to hit the market in 2010, whether or not it will look like this or have the same specs remains to be seen. The car will hit Europe to start and then come to North America. Pricing is unknown.
