Veritas RSIII Roadster Hybrid is World's Fastest Plug in Hybrid

For years, I loathed hybrids. They were all boring cars like the Prius that went against everything my auto enthusiasts genes told me I wanted like speed, performance, and good looks. Thankfully, hybrid tech is being introduced into some cars that are exactly what an enthusiast like me wants. Porsche is putting hybrid tech into some of its racecars and hybrids on the streets in some of its production models.

What may well be the most awesome hybrid car ever has turned up from a company called Veritas and it is so cool. It reminds me of the love child of a Pagani Zonda and an Aston Martin roadster and I love it. The new hybrid roadster from Veritas is hailed as the fastest plug-in hybrid in the world and it uses a V10 BMW engine along with an electric motor for motivation.

The BMW V10 that powers the roadster has 507hp on its own and the electric motor that powers the front wheels adds an extra 100hp with its 105kQ making for a total of over 600hp. Despite the fact that the hybrid version weighs more than the normal roadster version at 2,821 pounds the hybrid is a bit quicker to 62mph.

The normal roadster will hit the 62mph mark in 3.2 seconds and the hybrid is good for the same sprint in 3.1 seconds. With the electric motor powering the front wheels and the V10, powering the back the car has AWD. The top speed is 10mph lower than the normal roadster at 201mph.

Here is the really cool part, the RSIII can drive for 30miles on electric power alone powering the front wheels and if you feel the need to perform a smoky burnout to show the ricer in the lane next to you what real power is like, the V10 will kick in and off you go.
