This movie will release on March 29, 2011. It is an incredible story of the life of a ballerina whose sanity hangs in the balance. The pressures of playing both roles in the ballet Swan Lake takes its toll. In addition, as the lines of sanity and paranoia are reached it may be too late.
The movie is based on Nina played by Natalie Portman as she lands the plum role of the White Swan. Her company director informs her she will also play the Black Swan. She serves perfect at the role of the White Swan but has a hard time with the looser, lustier role of the Black Swan. The strain of reaching within herself for these feelings, along with nattering comments from her mother and the perceived rivalry from a new dancer, are enough to make anybody crack. Those cracks are broad indeed, as Nina's psychological instability is telegraphed with blunt-force emphasis in this neurotic roller coaster ride. The characters are stick figures--literally, in the case of the dancers, but also as single-note stereotypes in the horror show. Yet the film does work up some crazed momentum, and the final sequence is one juicy curtain-dropper. This is a thrilling movie to watch you should order yours today.
