Chevy Offers Z-Spec Accessories for 2012 Sonic

Chevy lets buyers customize the new Sonic

There are many people that are in the market for new small cars with fuel prices up and the desire to buy a car that is cheaper and easier on the budget. Chevrolet has a new small car coming soon called the Sonic that will land as a 2012 mode. Chevy has announced that it will offer a lot of accessories to buyers that want to make their ride different from the masses right from the factory.

Chevy has announced a bunch of new accessories for the Sonic that fall into the Z-Spec line. The new Z-Spec line will be shown off at the New York International Auto Show with Color Out accents packages and more. The Color Out packages are accessories that are contrasting colors to the other parts of the car.

The Sonic itself is a small turbocharged car with an agile ride and handling. Many younger drivers are gravitating to smaller cars with turbos today so the Sonic will probably be very popular. "The new Z-Spec accessories reinforce Sonic's fun, youthful spirit," said Rick Scheidt, vice president, Chevrolet marketing. "Customization is particularly important with the customers we believe will gravitate toward the Sonic, and we want to help them make their vehicle look exactly the way they want as easily as possible."

The color accent packages will be offered in Black Out and White Out. They will be black on the Summit White Sonic and the Inferno Orange will get Summit White accents. I would like to see options to make the parts body color, sometimes contrast isn’t what a car needs. The parts can be purchased along with the vehicle and then installed by the dealer at delivery.

The parts will also be offered individually outside of a package along with a lot of other accessories like chrome mirror caps, door handles, and cargo nets. Chevy will also offer graphics packages in the future. The Sonic offers an optional 1.4L Ecotec 4-cylinder engine with 138hp and 148 lb.-ft of torque. The car can be fitted with a 5-speed manual or a six-speed auto transmission with the standard 1.8L engine.
