RIM announced today BlackBerry PlayBook Video Chat and Facebook for BlackBerry Playbook.
The BlackBerry PlayBook Video Chat application lets user take and share video calls with their friends and family over an internet connected Wi-Fi network. Facebook for BlackBerry PlayBook provides the most popular features of Facebook optimized for the 7-inch high resolution, multi-touch LCD display of the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet.
The company is adding more features that make the Playbook interesting for more than just use at work. Apparently RIM sees a new value-add for there products in the balance between work and personal purposes. RIM is advancing work-life balance on BlackBerry smartphones with BlackBerry Balance. BlackBerry Balance is a new technology that makes possible the convenience of using a single BlackBerry smartphone for both work and personal purposes without compromising the security of company content and the privacy of personal content.
BlackBerry Balance has not yet been announced for the Playbook, but adding Facebook and Video chat clearly adds features on the personal use side. The BlackBerry Playbook starts at $499.
RIM also announced today the new touch BlackBerry Bold phones.
