OS X 10.7 Lion will be availalbe on the Mac App Store: Sources

OS X Lion will be released some when after the WWDC 2011 in June. Looks like we will be able to download the update right away through the Mac App Store.

Apple is busy working on the next Apple Mac OS X update. OS X 10.7 Lion will be taken center stage at the WWDC 2011 next month. AppleInsider got word from their sources that Apple will release OS X 10.7 through the Mac App Store as digital download. There is also evidence of this in recent developer pre-releases. This makes of course perfect sense, now with the store in place. The OS X Lion update will cost money again. The OS X Snow Leopard update was $29 in 2009.
It is not known yet what Apple will charge for OS X Lion. With the Mac App Store Apple has the infrastructure in place to do the billing and the delivery.

The main problem will be the size of the download and the load Apple will have to handle when all Mac users around the globe want the OS X Lion Update as soon as it is released.

OS X 10.7 Lion:
Apple has already unveiled some of the major new features for OS X Lion. There will be a new Launchpad that gives you instant access to your apps. Full screen apps and a Mac command central will also be part of the improvements. Other new features include AirDrop, New FileVault, Mail 5, Resume, Versions, Gestures, Animations and Auto Save.
