Barnes & Noble has revealed at an analyst meeting that they will release a new version of the nookeReader on May 24th (viaReuters). B&N did not reveal any details. The nook is viewed by many as a dark horse in the tablet race. The latest update allows nook users to play Androidgames and run apps. An email app and webbrowser with videosupport is also available now. The nook runs Android 2.2 and offers a 7-inch color screen. The Wi-Fi nook sells for $249.
If B&N plays it smart they can beat Amazon to the punch with a full featured Android tablet at a low price point. Amazon is rumored to come out with a tablet this year. So mark your calendar on May 24th. This could get interesting.

The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.
The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
