The Windows Phone OS is supposed to get a major update this summer. Known as "Mango", the new Windows Phone OS release will add multi-tasking, IE9, turn-by-turn navigation, Bing music identifier and more.
Microsoft has invited the press (via BGR) to a VIP Preview event on May 24. Microsoft will then unveil the new Windows OS and give us a complete run down of the new features. Microsoft started last year with Windows Phones from scratch. They went to market with a core feature set that was behind Apple and Google. With Mango they will finally catch up.
In a podcast over the weekend, Microsoft spilled some of the Mango features. Bing Audio will allow you to search for music that you hear (like Shazam). Bing Vision will allow you to search via with scanned barcodes. Turn-by-turn navigation with Bing maps will let you use your Windows Phone as full navigation device.
Another new feature will be SMS Dictation. Your Windows Phone will read your messages to you.
