Google unveiled yesterday the Chromebook. These Chrome OS laptops are the ideal choice for startups. This is not just because you will be able to rent one including services for $28 per month. Rental of computer hardware has been around for a while. You get also the benefits from OS simplicity and cloud services. Below are five reasons why Chromebooks are great for Startups.
1) Monthly subscription of $28 per user is affordable even before getting funding
For $28 you are not only getting a Chromebook. This fee includes Chromebooks and a cloud management console to remotely administer and manage users, devices, applications and policies. Also included is enterprise-level support, device warranties and replacements as well as regular hardware refreshes.
2) Simplicity saves the need for an IT guy
Chrome OS is basically just a browser. Google promises that there are no issues with setup and security. Pilot business customers are confirming this.
3) Hosted and centralized Infrastructure from Day 1
All your data will be in the cloud. All your company data can be easily managed: Think backup, migration or audits. Google's cloud services are scalable. No worries that you outgrow it anytime soon.
4) You can work anywhere
You and your employees can work anywhere. You can meet at Peet's Coffee for a caffeine infused hackathon or brainstorm at the beach.
5) You can move offices in a Day
Startups grow and moving usually is a pain. If you all your company IT infrastructure is in the cloud moving becomes a lot easier.
Your star developers and graphics designers will still want Core i7 SSD RAID monster PC or a pimped out Mac Pro. Once you have funding this should be no problem. You still get them though to use the cloud on their hardware. I also recommend to still give them a Chromebook as well.
