Windows 8 not launching in 2012

Earlier this week reported that Windows 8 would launch in 2012. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said this to developers in Japan. According to InfoWorld, Microsoft issued a statement that says that there was a misstatement.

Microsoft did not further elaborate on when they plan to release Windows 8. It is expected that Microsoft will release several flavors of Windows 8. Microsoft needs as soon as possible a Windows version for tablets. Windows 8 for tablets could still arrive this year. Windows 8 for PCs and Laptops might come as late as 2013.

Microsoft was able to pull a new OS for smartphones out of the hat. Now they should have already pulled out one optimized for tablets. It has me wondering what takes that long as Microsoft has been there with tablets years ago. Okay, back then the failed, but now Apple showed how it is done. Android and webOS have arrived on tablets, but where is Windows?

About the Geek Mind

The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.

The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
