After a long wait the 2011 Apple Back To School Promotion finally starts today. It is not official yet, but images of the flyer have leaked on MacRumors with the details. The Apple Back To School deal will last from June 16 until September 20th and as rumored will be a $100 gift card. Apple specifically calls it a $100 Mac App Store credit. The $100 gift card can though also be used on iTunes and the iBookStore.
The $100 Back To School gift card code requires students to buy a new Mac. Educational pricing still applies.
The Apple Back To School deal for Europe is a 75 Euro Mac App Store gift card according to the leaked flyer on iSpazio.
Compared to the free 8GB iPod touch students got in the past years this deal is a step down. The Microsoft Back To School 2011 deal is no looking even more attractive. Students get a free Xbox 360 ($199.99 value) with the purchase of a Windows 7 computer priced $699 and above.
The rumors of the iPad being part of the 2011 Back To School promotion also turned out to be false. In the end this year's Apple Back To School promotion was not really worth waiting for. On the other hand if you have been holding off your Mac purchase until now wait a bit longer for the release of the new 2011 MacBook Air end of the month.
Update:
The 2011 Apple Back To School Promotion has officially launched. Students, You get a free $100 App Store Gift Card with your Mac purchase.
