Huawei and Cricket Wireless will introduce a new Android 2.3 smartphone that will only cost $300 pre-paid. The specifications of the Glory (Huawei M886) are quite impressive. Highlights include 4-inch 854x480px screen, 8MP camera, 1.4-Ghz Qualcomm CPU. The Glory will be able to run Ice Cream Sandwich coming this fall. Getting all this for under $300 without contract is very impressive.
PCMag got an exclusive hands-on with the Huawei Glory. The Glory looks decent and is only 9.7mm thin. PCMag's first impression found nothing to complain about and says its very, very fast. There is still confusion if the Glory runs on a dual-core CPU or if the Qualcomm chip is single-core. The release is scheduled for November. So there is enough time to figure this out. Huawei has currently a lot of success with the Ascend, an low-priced Android pre-paid phone available through Cricket Wireless and MetroPCS.
Huawei was just in the news with the first Android 3.2 7-inch tablet dubbed Huawei MediaPad.
