The new 2011 MacBook Air is getting closer. Best Buy has stopped offering shipping for MacBook Air laptops on BestBuy.com. You still can do store pick-ups though. Best Buy has also put all MacBook Air models on sale starting at $938.99 for the base model.
We still expect that Apple is releasing the new MacBook Air not before OS X Lion. It could be that OS X Lion is launching already in the first week of July.
The first generation MacBook Air laptops used actually rather slow CPUs (Core 2 Duo). Apple did not adopt the Intel Core series. The new MacBook Air is supposed to use the new Intel Sandy Bridge CPUs as the 2011 MacBook Pro does. If true than the 2011 MacBook Air would offer dramatic performance in its super thin and light form factor. Additionally the new MacBook Air will get a Thunderbolt port.
