Rumored release date for the new OS X 10.7 Lion update is July 14th. 9to5Mac has now more evidence that this is really going to be the case. Their overseas sources told them that Apple calls for overnight changes in Apple retail stores. This very likely means that OS X Lion signage goes up and if we are lucky Apple is also already launching the new 2011 MacBook Air.
The new 2011 MacBook Air is expected to feature Intel Sandy Bridge CPUs, Thunderbolt port and maybe some new faster storage. I do not think Apple is launching more than one new hardware product along with the release of OS X Lion. We could see a new MacBook and a Mac Mini later in July.
Mac OS X Lion is featuring 250 new features. OS X Lion will be available in July as a download from the Mac App Store for $29.99. Some of the features in Lion include: new Multi-Touch gestures; system-wide support for full screen apps; Mission Control, a view of everything running on your Mac; the Mac App Store, the best place to find and explore great software, built right into the OS; Launchpad, a new home for all your apps; and a completely redesigned Mail app.
