As reported the ITC found that HTC infringes on two Apple patents. Many see this first step victory a path for Apple to hurt Android in general. HTC is of course trying to fight this and they have big Google on their side. According to ZDNet, Google Chairman Eric Schmidt said at an event in Asia that Google will make sure that HTC won't lose. He did not go into details how this will work, but of course cash and hiring the best lawyers help.
In the meantime Digitimes reports that the Chinese smarpthone makers are already very concerned and try to find alternatives to Android to not get caught up in patent issues. Kind of interesting that Chinese companies worry about this. Times are changing. One alternative is to adopt Windows Phone Mango. Microsoft is sure still offering pretty attractive licensing conditions for the Windows Phone OS to get traction in the market.
