Apple has been rumored to be planning an Apple Store in the Grand Central Terminal in New York since early this year. Today the New York Post reports that Apple got a 10 year deal with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). The Grand Central Apple Store is supposed to have a size of 23,000 square-foot. Apple is supposed to put down $800,000 in rent per year.
Apple Stores are a huge success and Apple plans to open many more. According to a recent report on Australian Current, Apple plans to open 33 new stores this year. This would bring the number of Apple Stores around the world to 363, not counting the couple of fake Apple Stores in China.
Right now the largest Apple Store is in London, which of course sucks. The United States needs to have the largest Apple Store. Grand Central Terminal is a unique location and will be the setting for a dramatic cool Apple Store.
