HP released the first webOS tablet amidst software issues that gave it bad ratings in the initial reviews. Two days ago HP released an update that brought several improvements. And now the HP TouchPad is marked down by $100 and sells for $399.99 in most stores including Amazon. Today though you can save another $20 on the HP TouchPad as Woot is offering it for $379.99 + $5 shipping.
If you do not need access to the vast app offerings of Apple and Android than the HP TouchPad is at this price the best tablet computer you can buy today. I always said that the way to beat Apple in the tablet space is to offer the same experience at a lower price. webOS offers a great user interface and if HP is able to make it stable and fast on the TouchPad they have a real chance.
The HP TouchPad features a 9.7-inch screen with 1024x768px resolution and runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-CPU APQ8060 1.2-GHz processor. Other features of the first WebOS Tablet include 16GB or 32GB storage, Wifi 802.11n, A-GPS (3G only), Bluetooth, 1.3MP front facing webcam, 6300mAh battery and Micro-USB port. On the software side the WebOS TouchPad supports Adobe Flash Player 10.1 beta, HP Synergy feature, virtual full QWERTY keyboard and Quickoffice Connect Mobile Suite.
