In the past months the Apple iPhone 5 rumors tried to just pin down the month when the iPhone 5 will go on sale. We heard September and October as possible time frames for the iPhone 5 release. In recent days iPhone 5 rumors start to try to be more specific. Yesterday we carried a rumor that put the said that the iPhone 5 and an cheaper iCloud iPhone would launch in the last week of September.
Today a Japanese blog (via BGR) puts the announcement of the iPhone 5 on September 7 (September 8 Japanese time). Apple is supposed to hold their fall iPod / iPhone event on that day. Apple held a music related event in fall in the last couple of years. This year will be different as we did not get our new iPhone yet. This also means we cannot really use the music event schedule of the past years as basis for the prediction when Apple will announce the iPhone 5.
I checked the schedules on the Moscone Center and the YBCA schedule but there is no hint on a possible slot for an Apple event. Right now any date you will see mentioned as the iPhone 5 release date is pur guess work. Apple is riding a very tight ship on the iPhone 5. They definitely want to avoid anything close to the "big iPhone 4 prototype left in a bar" disaster that happened last year.
Update:
As I stated above the September 7 date is pure guessing and Jim Dalrymple from The Loop, who is usually very well informed, says that on September 7 is definitely no Apple event planned.
