Today I am checking out the Bowers & Wilkins P5 headphones with the integrated iPhone/iPod remote and mic. This is an awesome set of headphones that look fantastic and sound just as good. If you want high-end audio with all the features you need the Bowers & Wilkins P5 is one of the best purchases you can make.
The Bowers & Wilkins P5 is a set of on the ear headphones that are comfortable to wear. They have an iPhone compatible remote inline and a mic for phone calls. The drivers are dual 40mm units with 26 ohms impedance. The frequency range is 10Hz to 20kHz. The maximum input power is 50mW and they ship with a 3.5mm cable for portable devices. The Bowers & Wilkins P5 are available now for about $300.
Generally, I am not into spending big money on headphones or speakers. I often simply don’t hear the difference between cheap gear and the high-end stuff to justify the cost since I am no audiophile. I do like nice, deep bass in my music though and that can be hard to find. The Bowers & Wilkins P5 headphones are fantastic looking. As soon as you pull them out of the box, you can tell at a glance that the headphones are high quality. There is no plastic or vinyl to be seen here. These headphones are made from real aluminum and leather.
The P5 headphones have an on-ear design and generally, I am not a fan of on-ear headphones. I prefer the over the ear type for more comfort. The Bowers & Wilkins P5 have very soft and comfortable ear cushions though and even for long term listening they remain comfortable. They are a bit hot though with the Texas heat at 105 degrees.
Bowers & Wilkins ships the P5 headphones with a quilted looking bag to keep them safe while you are on the go. The only issue I have with the bag is that it looks more like something a woman would carry, but the bag is very nice. The headband is well padded and the headphones are easy to adjust to your head size.
The real story here isn't the style, the bag, or the build quality. The story is the sound. These are my favorite headphones ever with lush sound that lets me hear parts of some songs I routinely listen to that I didn’t even know existed. I can hear background lyrics that I didn’t even know existed from listening to the songs on my car stereo.
The bass is deep and thumping, but never overwhelmed the rest of the music. The overall sound is very well balanced and the deep bass, sharp highs and excellent mid-range sounds simply make the Bowers & Wilkins P5 the best headphones I have ever used.
The Bowers & Wilkins P5 are simply the best headphones I have ever used and if you can afford them, they are worth every penny.
