Nielsen published mobile phone market report based on July data. Smartphones have now 40% over all market share. This means Apple and the Android camp have still a huge market to conquer. Nielsen also surveyed what these feature phone users plan to buy. Among those who say they are likely to get a new smartphone in the next year, approximately one third say they want their next smartphone to be an iPhone and one third say they want an Android device.
In the smartphone market share battle Android is still ahead with 40% followed by Apple iPhone with 28%. Basically nothing much changed. I am really excited for the market share distribution after the fall. Will Apple succeed with their iCloud, iOS 5 and iPhone 5 assault or can Google counter Apple huge release with Ice Cream Sandwich and Nexus Prime?
