The HP TouchPad got sold for $99.99. The BlackBerry PlayBook could face the same destiny.
When HP killed WebOS products, they launched a fire sale of the HP TouchPad priced at $99.99. At this price the HP Tablet sold out in days. HP actually is making new ones with the remaining components in the supply chain. We are still waiting for them to arrive on the HP Store. There could be another tablet though that also may end up in a fire sale. According to BGR, analyst Brian Blair with Wedge Partners believes that the the RIM PlayBook will face the same destiny. RIM has supposedly shipped over half a million PlayBooks into the channel, but has not revealed the sell-through. This means retailers are sitting on piles of unsold Playbooks.
