From a leaked HP internal email we know that HP employees can purchase today the $99.99 16GB HP TouchPad and the $149.99 32GB HP TouchPad from the new production run. HP is a huge company with over 300,000 employees. I am not sure if all 300,000 are eligible for the offer. Since HP is still silent on when the new $99 TouchPads will be offered on the HP Store, I assume they actually do not know if there will be any left after the HP employees get the first dip.
The 16GB TouchPad still fetches over $200 and the 32GB model sells for more than $250 on eBay. Even if HP employees do not want to actually keep the TouchPad, a quick $100 is neat. I would actually buy one and hang it on my cubicle wall as a reminder for the bad situation HP is in these days. I really wonder if Meg Whitman can save HP.
HP has setup a hash-tag on Twitter dubbed #FoundTP where consumers exchange tips on where to find a TouchPad. After OnSale fulfilled past orders last week the sources ran dry again. The hopes are that HP will have TouchPads left after the employee purchasing offer is over. New HP TouchPads could be arriving on the HP Store as soon as tomorrow.
I actually have the suspicion that some retailers are still holding back TouchPads for Black Friday 2011. With Android ports advancing and consumer interest still high this could actually be a good strategy.

The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.
The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
