Back in July we reported that Apple got the go ahead to build an Apple Store in the Grand Central Station in New York. The Grand Central Apple Store is supposed to have a size of 23,000 square-foot. Apple is supposed to put down $800,000 in rent per year. Construction is well underway and 9to5Mac got some new information from a tipster. There is still lot of work to do, but Apple is supposed to plan the opening on Black Friday (November 25).
To open a store on Black Friday is pretty bold. It is one of the most massive shopping days of the year. New Apple Store openings are already drawing big crowds. To open on Black Friday is making it even more crazy. On top of that the store employees would have to be already fully trained to handle a store opening on such an important shopping day. To open a store on Black Friday is great PR, but extremely hard to pull off and not have it end in disaster. My prediction is that Apple is not going to do it. They either launch a week before Black Friday or wait until early December with the store opening.
