Recently there have been several new wearable camcorders that have been unveiled. Not long ago the GoPro HD Hero2 broke cover and today Swann is unveiled a new wearable camcorder that looks a lot like that GoPro called the Freestyle HD. This little camera has a waterproof enclosure that will resist water down to 65-feet. It also has an LCD on the back so you can see what you are shooting.
The lack of an LCD is one thing that I have long missed on my GoPro. The Freestyle HD also has 1080p resolution and 3x digital zoom. It will shoot 8MP images and is designed to be mounted to cars, surfboards, motorcycles, bikes and a lot more. It appears that all the mounts are adhesive style though. That might be a deal breaker to some folks.
I refuse to use adhesive mounts on my car. The LCD on the rear is a 1.5-inch model and the battery inside is USB rechargeable lithium-ion unit. Video storage is to a microSD card. The battery is good for 2.5 hours of recording per charge. It comes with a remote control and more. The camera sells for $279.99 and can be purchased right now.
