One of the rumors that have been swirling about the iPad 3 is that the tablet will have a Retina resolution display like the iPhone 4 uses. Anyone that used an iPhone before the 4 came out knows that the screen resolution between the 3 and 3GS and the iPhone 4/4S is huge.
The rumors are claiming that the iPad 3 will have a 2560 x 1600 resolution screen. The word is that Samsung also has a new retina resolution 2560 x 1600 screen that will launch before the iPad 3. If the tablets other hardware lives up to the screen rumors it might well take sales away from the iPad.
The Samsung tablet is said to be slightly larger than the Galaxy Tab 10.1 thanks to a small and thin bezel on the higher resolution screen. It's also supposed to use an Exynos 5250 CPU with dual-cores at 2GHz. The new Android slate and the iPad 3 may be very close in hardware performance. I can't wait to see how this works out.
