The iPad rumors are rampant today. Earlier we reported that Apple is unveiling the iPad 3 on March 7. Then the Wall Street Journal claims that AT&T and Verizon will sell 4G LTE iPad 3 tablets. Now the Wall Street Journal has released another iPad rumor report. According to their sources, Apple is testing an iPad with a smaller screen. The smaller screen is supposed to be around 8-inches. This would only be about 2-inches less than the current 9.7-inch screen of the iPad 2. Most tablet vendors opted for a 7-inch screen size so for for their smaller tablet models.
Apple has long insisted that 9.7-inch is the best size for a tablet and dismissed smaller tablets. Maybe things changed now as the 7-inch tablet market, led by Amazon's Kindle Fire is taking on. It make sense to offer a similar sized tablet for a cheaper price to compete with Amazon and Samsung in the low-end/mid-range tablet segment.
When Apple is releasing a smaller iPad is not clear. I do not think that it will come already on March 7.
