SanDisk Launches Extreme SSD

SanDisk has a large range of SSDs for all sorts of needs. The company makes upgrade SSDs for consumers and has business-class drives more focused on reliability than speed. SanDisk has unveiled the latest SSD units in its line today called the Extreme. The company promises the SSD is 10 times faster than your typical 7200 RPM hard drive.

This is fast and can boot a computer in under 16 seconds. It also allows much faster loading of software and videogame levels. The SSD has up to 550 MB per second sequential read performance and 520 MB per second sequential write. The drive also is capable of up to 83,000 maximum random write IOPS.

This is the also consumes 30% less power than a traditional hard drive. The Extreme SSD is available right now in 120 GB and 240 GB versions selling for $189.99 and $399.99 respectively. Later this year SanDisk will offer a larger 420 GB version for $749.99.
