Netflix really found itself in a bad spot after it announced plans last year to split the streaming and DVD rental services apart with two separate charges. There has been a streaming only plan for a long time but the DVD rental plan was going to move to a new brand called Qwikster. After losing roughly 800,000 subscribers shortly after announcing its intentions to change the service, Netflix killed thoughts of separating its services.
Netflix has announced today the DVD rental fans can again sign-up for the DVD and Blu-ray physical disc rentals at $7.99 a month. Netflix still offers its full catalog of about 100,000 DVD titles. Some customers will be eligible for a one-month free trial as well.
The plan works just as it always did for renting and adding movies to your queue. When those movies are available they ship out to you. How long it takes the movies to get to you will depend on how far you are from a Netflix warehouse.
