iPad 3 in Short Supply at Launch says Supply Chain Rumor

This rumor appears at every iPad launch and turns out be true, but not because of short supply of components but by overwhelming demand.

The Apple iPad 3 will be unveiled next week on March 7. It is expected that the iPad 3 will go on sale somewhen in March. Digitimes reports that Apple might now be able to ramp up production fast enough to meet initial demand. Industry sources say that there not enough Retina Display components in the supply chain.

According to Digitimes Apple sources the 9.7-inch Retina Display with 2,048x1,536px resolution from three suppliers: Sharp, Samsung and LG. If true or not the new iPad will likely be in short supply as demand is expected to be dramatic again. The iPad 2 was also sold out at launch and wait times have been 2-3 weeks at the online Apple Store. We expect the same thing happen with the Apple iPad 3 at launch - no matter of the component supply situation.
