The ETSI meeting this week has been postponed as Nokia, Apple and Sandisk cannot agree on the details and patent licensing terms. Via Foss Patents.
Nokia said earlier that Apple does not have nano-SIM Patents and boom, Apple just got one awarded today according to SlashGear. The nano-SIM battle continues. The Nokia spec for a nano-SIM does sound actually better. Maybe Apple should take a closer look.

Apple is prepared to make their nano-SIM technology royalty-free if it becomes the standard says a new report on Foss Patents. Apple is fighting for their nano-SIM specification against the proposal from Motorola, RIM and Nokia. Foss Patents' Florian Mueller says that he has seen a letter from Apple to ETSI that Apple is granting royalty-free licenses to any Apple patents essential to nano-SIM.
There is another important meeting of ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) later this week that might finally take nano-SIM closer to become a reality. Apple likely plans to have nano-SIM in the new iPhone 5 scheduled for fall.
