The Sony PlayStation 4 is expected in 2013. Microsoft's Xbox 720 is also expected next year. The Sony PS4 could be called Orbis according to a report on Kotaku. The Orbis name has been relayed from a reliable source says Kotaku.
Orbis means circle in Latin. Sony could be meaning that the PlayStation 4 comes full circle. Kotaku brings the Vita into play to create the common latin term Orbis Vitae (Vita). Which would mean that the PS Vita will be playing a big role with the PS4.
If Orbis is a codename or the final product name remains to be seen. It is still early. We do not even know what the PS4 will be all about. Sony really needs to aim to come out on top of Microsoft to not go under. Despite the raw processing power, the PS3 is lagging behind the Xbox 360Kinect system in terms of innovation and novel game play experience.

The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.
The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
